The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals is a full-year work-study fellowship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange. Each year seventy-five Americans receive this scholarship which includes two months of German language training (no prior German language knowledge required), four months of classroom instruction at a German university or college, and a five-month internship in each participant's career field. Students from all fields are encouraged to apply, but the scholarship is specifically targeted toward students in business, vocational, scientific, engineering, technical, and agricultural fields. The scholarship covers round-trip transatlantic flight, university tuition, language training, living stipend, program-related travel costs in Germany, and health and accident insurance.
Eligible applicants should be US citizens or permanent residents between 18 and 24 years of age. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and have completed general coursework at a community college, college, or university in addition to having completed relevant work experience (short-term, volunteer, internship) in their area of study. German language proficiency is preferred but not required.
