Caitlin, from Rochester, Minnesota, is a violin performance major, with a minor in editing. Among the awards Caitlin has won are the Thomas S. Monson Presidential Scholarship with National Merit Distinction, BYU’s Communication and Music Talent Awards, the National Toyota Community Scholarship, as well as the 1st place award in Utah Music Association Concerto Competition. She believes her ORCA grant, awarded for Honors thesis research on Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, was meaningful preparation for success in her academic career. Outside of the classroom, Caitlin plays in the BYU Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras; she loves playing in ensembles, performing in renowned soloists, and traveling the world. Looking into the future, Caitlin plans to apply for a master’s degree in violin performance at the Royal College of Music in London; she hopes to become a violin professor.
