Amber, a 2013 recipient of the James Madison Fellowship, graduated from BYU in 1989 with a major in History and minor in Psychology. Her hometown is San Angelo, Texas, and she currently lives in Houston, Texas. She originally worked at law firms in Houston for twenty years, but she decided to make a career change to teaching. She currently teaches Government, AP Government, and IB History of the Americas at Eisenhower High School in Houston. She is also pursuing her masters in American History and Government at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.
