Cameron Sargent is from Littleton, Colorado and is majoring in Molecular Biology with minors in Chemistry and Korean. A winner of the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Scholarship to China, Cameron feels that his undergraduate research, Honors involvement, and LDS mission all helped prepare him for this scholarship. Cameron credits submitting an ORCA proposal and enrolling in Honors 150 Freshman Writing to becoming a better writer. He also notes that Honors 100 helped him learn how to apply and find scholarships. Additionally, Cameron’s mission helped him develop effective time management and planning habits, while his experience in South Korea familiarized him with the culture of East Asia, experiences he relied heavily upon while writing his scholarship application for Phi Kappa Phi. So far, Cameron considers enrolling in the Phage Hunters freshman research class as his best undergraduate experience as it opened doors in regards to research and publication opportunities while allowing him to develop valuable relationships with his professors. Cameron’s future plans include biomedical research.
